NTT Docomo unveiled its 2013 Spring lineup to a packed house of invited Japanese and technical press at the Prince Park Tower Hotel in Tokyo.  They showed off and explained 12 new models that will launch, beginning on January 25th, with a lot of nice improvements over their current line-up of 16 models.

NTT Docomo President and CEO, Kaoru Kato, 7 months into his tenure at the position, gave a confident, nicely-paced, clear and concise presentation of the company’s lineup and vision of what the company’s focus is and will be.

And Japanese “talent” Ken Watanabe and Maki Horikita stopped by to give their thoughts about the new product lineup.

There were two main themes at today’s meeting:

1) Development of improved products

2) Docomo Smart Home – universal connectivity of devices in the home

First, he gave a run-down of the company’s upcoming product releases.  All boasting Android 4.1 OS, and most with upgrades to Full HD.

Next, he explained Docomo Smart Home and the concept behind it: all content – videos, music, etc. – can be shared between smartphones and home electronics to make storing and accessing content as easy, friendly and affordable to the user as possible.
