Japanese Cellies Might Make Satellite Calls

Is it me, or do the Japanese get the best stuff so much sooner than us in the States?

According to recent reports, the Japanese government is poised to release a 50-diameter satellite dish so Japanese cell phone users can make satellite calls in case of emergency with a few slight modifications. The bird will be the largest dish ever released by the Japanese government, and most sources say that the government doesn’t actually plan on allowing access to the dish until 2015. Until then, enjoy your cell towers.
