Everything is digital now anyway, so what if they discontinue tape-based recording? Out with the old, in with the new

I have a banker’s box FULL of neatly stacked audiocassettes, some of which date back to the ’70′s and still work perfectly. (. Some music is no longer available) And 3 playback devices. You can’t beat the classics, like vinyl

I think you are kidding yourself if you think all of your old cassettes still play perfectly. The magnetic tape in prerecorded tapes is generally pretty poor and will degrade drastically within 20 years even when sitting on the shelf.

For what it’s worth, these hunks of old tech help me write songs. “The old” is pertinent to not only the evolution of music, but also the way we still receive great art from outsider artists. Unless you are a teenager, your favorite bands probably record to tape. If you do not actually like music, I suppose the quickest way is best. But expect the least.

The same could be said about hand-cranked foil-wrapped cylinders. You kids and your “magnetic tape”, always looking for the quick and easy way. You must not like music.

I find your comment rather insulting, to accuse those who use digital media of not liking music. I’m a non-luddite musician who started with tape and gladly adopted digital as well.

      FUCK THE NEW!!!!

I remember trying to get my buddies to switch to cassettes from eight-tracks back in the 70′s. They did outlast the old cartridges, that’s for sure.

The vinyl is a HUGEEE HOAX! What they hear is super NOISE BACKGROUND and they think THAT is quality.
