New XDCAM EX by SONY

The National Association of Broadcasters (held in the USA) was the perfect opportunity for SONY to announce their new product, the XDCAM EX coming with a new Express Card format called SxS offering a transfer rate of 800MBps for MPEG2HD videos on a 16GB cards !
Well this might not ring your bell but until now, ONLY Panasonic proposed such a product with their HVX-200 and its 8GB card and a price tag of 7000 EUR…and still, using the max. specs you could only record 4 minutes (1080i@60fps and 100MBps) so the arrival of SONY on this market is a great news as, hopefully, the prices will drop !

For those interested, here are some of the advantages of Flash memory:
-no problems with vibrations
-videos instantly accessible for playing
-videos can be directly edited

I think it’s time for me to sell my HVX-200 !
