Thanko releases a new HDMI Stisk than now runs on Android 4.0

Thanko releases a new HDMI Stisk than now runs on Android 4.0

Note to self : BUY ONE! Ok I maybe a little biased on this one but I truly believe that these HDMI Stick are a gift from haven! An HDMI Stick, for those who lived under a rock the past few month, is a small Android Base computer that comes in the shape of large STICK that can be plugged to any TVs or displays via HDMI. These Stick will then turned your monitor/tv/diplay into a compact Android Based computer and will let you play game, surf the web or watch video without the needs of a conventional PC. Simply put you can turn any good old HDMI capable bumb TV into a Smart TV for cheap.

Yesterday Thanko announced its latest HDMI Stick with the Android Stick 4 SmartTV or ANDHDM40 than now comes powered with Android 4.0 or Android Ice Cream Sandwich. This 98x42x13mm and 40g HDMI Stick is powered by 1.5GHz Cortex A8-Allwinner A10 CPU with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of Storage (1GB is apparently used by the OS) and support pretty much everything with :
Videos (HD/SD) MPG 1/2/4, WMV 7/8/9(VC1), ASF, H264/H 263,MP4, FLV, 3GPP, MOV, MKV,RM/RMVB, TS, M2TS, DIVX/XVID, AVI, DAT
Audio OGG, M4A, MID, MP3, WAV, AMR, WMA,FLAC, RA, AAC

The Android Stick 4 SmartTV also comes with WiFi, USB Host and is fully compatible with Google Play.

I love the idea of this, especially for less than 10,000 yen. But I can’t quite figure out one thing – how do you actually operate/input. Does this require a touchscreen TV? Can I use it with a regular TV with HDMI? Do I use a bluetooth keyboard or USB keyboard? How do I navigate the OS. I’d appreciate more explanation on these points since I can’t see how it can be used like this from the HP.

If it is easy to actually use, I might actually go and get one, just for the YouTube playback possibilities.

You use it with a USB Keyboard and you can find many compact wireless ones that will work but they need a USB Dongle like the IOGEAR GKM681R. I have several ones made from China that works just fine!
