The Canon PowerShot TX1 at Akihabara News

We received this morning a TX1 from Canon for a week of tests. It’s currently sitting on my ASUS R1F and we’ll spend the week playing with this all-in-one camera and camcorder. It is supposed to support 1280×720 HD videos and photos in 4:3 or 16:9. We’ll a review of this product next week for you. We’ll decide if you can buy it, or skip it like the Xacti HD1 and HD2… All I can say is that Canon is able to produce extremely good products and also very poor products, so we’ll see for ourselves what this TX1 can do and let you know in a week.

Your replacement to the HD1???? You have no clue how good/bad this vid cam is…. 13 min per 4GB, WTF!!! My pennies on the HD2.

    Hi,Jimmy Jones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you wrong!Sorry but the Canon TX1 is not a video camera. It is a CAMERA,wich is able to capture HD video on the side.I f you want to judge a video camera, you have to look somewhere else.Do not take it personaly, but you do not see the real thing here!
    Have a nice day,Tibor

The longest single clip I have ever captured in my S1-IS is less than 3 minutes. For longer durations, I always rely on a camcorder. I am assuming that TX1 can fit many shorter clips (totaling well over 13 minutes) into a 4GB card as long as each of them is under 13 minutes. If that is not true, then I should stop drooling about TX1. However, in my opinion, pandisal should consider replacing HD1 with HD2 instead.
