The new Sony CyberShot DSC-H7, a nice plastic camera

Sony invited us at a press conference this morning to announce their latest CyberShots (we’ve made a video for you). So let’s start first with the high end model. The DSC-H7 is an 8.1Mpix camera with a Carl Zeiss lens. It has a 15x optical zoom, the famous “Face Detection” feature, a video output to connect to an HD TV, the BIONZ system (same as the α DSLRs), Super Steady Shot (image stabilizer), and supports up to ISO3200. After playing a few minutes with the camera, it seems the photos are of excellent quality for such a camera. But it’s sad that the quality of the materials used for this camera and the rest of the new CyberShot range is really low. The plastic materials used are so bad, it feels like manipulating a kid’s toy…
