[CEBIT 2012] Fancy USB pen drives, custom shape BTO

Built to order pen drives have been quite the rage since China was one of the first countries to offer competitive pricing for built to order shapes.

This year at Cebit, they are putting the focus more and more towards the business segment allowing enterprises to incorporate their product shape and/or logo in a fancy custom shape USB stick. Since they can manufacture about any shape you can imagine, in either rubber, Polycarbonate or wood, your ideas can roam freely.

Technology wise you can choose anything from USB 1.1 up to the latest generation USB 3.0, on a memory chip as big or flat as you like. We have seen some amazing examples where they incorporate an ultra flat memory module in a credit card sized gadget. Designs wise it’s all about you, we saw impressive mini thumb drive replica’s of Nikon DSLR cameras. Bulk quantities are obviously in order, and price will depend on your chosen technology standard and capacity needs.

“Gumball” has a following in Japan?  I’ve seen a couple episodes (granted, only a couple) and I wouldn’t have thought it’d be something that work there.  Shows what I know.

Or is the example of “Gumball” and “Darwin” just an example of what can be done, and a demo of what can be done and from where (i.e. that they can produce an order from the States, and/or an example of how “outlandish” the shape can be)?
