Canon: EOS1D Mark III
I had the pleasure of receiving an invitation to the Canon press conference and play with the new EOS1D Mark III. For those of you who don’t know the EOS1D, this is a high end camera used by many professional photographers.
Version III has a 10.1Mpix CMOS sensor supporting ISO 100 to 3200, combined with the new DIGIC III, a high speed photo management system. It is now possible to take continuous photos at a rate of 10 frames per second (110 photos max). The shutter has a 300,000 cycles lifespan, which is 150% better than the Mark II N, the version launched in September 2005.
An option that was awaited by many is finally available, as the Mark III has an integrated sensor cleaning system. A superb 3.0” screen allows you to perfectly check your photos, which is much better than on the D20 for example.
This option will be appreciated especially when knowing that cleaning cameras by Canon in France costs €60 and the camera is kept for 24 hours! (It’s free in Japan and only takes 30mn.)
The camera will be available in Japan at the end of May.
