China “Builds 30-Storey Hotel in 15 Days”

This is rather old news for many of you, but as I see that many people haven’t encountered this article on their local news broadcasts, we will post it here again.

China’s latest boast is a 30 floor hotel built in only 15 days and supposedly able to withstand “magnitude 9″ earthquakes. The builders boast that they erected the 30-storey, 183,000 square foot hotel on a pristine Hunan province site in only 15 days, using prefabricated parts.

As if this were not enough, they claim the building is “5 times” more resistant to earthquakes than “conventional” buildings and can withstand “magnitude 9″ quakes – as certified by the China Academy of Building Research. Unfortunately, with this being a made in China project only the most gullible believe their claims – most seem convinced the building is going to meet the same fate as so much China-quality architecture.

    this is so fucking awesome!!!

now the wait.  to see how fast an earthquake brings it down……i say 15 seconds…

  • Wrwe

The place probably never had earthquake. The Chinese love to boast about biggest, largest, widest, tallest, most and everything except about safety and within specification standards. Anyway, with Chinese mentality comes Chinese quality.

Impressive… So how did they get past the foundation setting up time so quick? Extreme Home Makeover just got owned! 1 house in a week. Child’s Play!

Why? I don’t understand this kind of mentality. Who needs a hotel in 15 days? Who wants to stay in a hotel that was built in 15 days.

Just because you can do it, you shouldn’t, most people take pride in getting things done with quality, not speed.

Like sex, speed isn’t a quality you are looking for.

Because the faster you can build it, the faster it can start operating and bring you $$$. :)

A hotel…………….in the middle of nowhere!

I don’t like the tone of your assertions. Do you have any scientific proof that this building WON’T withstand a richter 9 earthquake? Science, whether conducted by a Japanese, Chinese, American or Ugandan company can be verified

Amazing. Skyscraper built at Olympic speed in about the same time it takes the actual Olympics. Beautiful. Impatient rich people are loving these guys right now!

You guys can not imagine how this construction technique can be useful in the 3rd world. In my country this would be fantastic to build houses for the poor and re organize the cities.
