Stanley’s Display projects image in mid air

Just shown on CEATEC Japan 2011, was the new Stanley Electric Co. display.

Now we are on the brink of a new age, holograms might just be the future that.
Stanley Electric has developed the micro-mirror, and the Japan’s National Institute of Information Communications Technology developed the principle of the method. Combined they are able to converge images from two different reflectors (mirrors) and combine them in the air, thus creating the hologram effect.

They hope that this new method will be used in the displays of gaming consoles of the feature, HUD (Head-Up Displays) for cars and so on. This technology still has a long road ahead, but it will get there.

When I was 30 years old I thought that there could be 3 projectors focused on a column of dust/particles of some kind in the middle of the room, which would then give you 3D from any viewing point.
I’m now 78 years old - hasn’t happened yet.

Or a reconstruction of a hologram with an animated lcd interference lens.
Seems like all the pieces are coming together, but a lifetime is a grain of sand…

That picture looks like a flat picture of teddy bear stuck on a flat metal plate. It’s really not a good illustration of the technology
