HDTV: the JVC GZ-HD7 HDD and SD hybrid video camera
A few months ago at the CEATEC, JVC introduced a prototype of their Everio HD camera, the GZ-HD7. Today during the press conference organized to present this new camcorder, we were able to play a bit with it. We already knew the camera had a hard disk and was able to produce HD videos (1920×1080 in i), we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the Everio is a hybrid camera! You also have the choice of producing HDV 1440×1080 videos (same as the Sony cameras), and record them on the 60GB hard disk or SD cards (SDHC)! In HD, you can record up to 5 hours of video on the 60GB hard disk (30Mbps MPEG2-TS), or 25 minutes on a 4GB SDHC card (22Mbps VBR MPEG2-TS). The camcorder also has an HDMI and USB2 port to plug it on the CU-VD40, a standalone DVD burner, so you can produce DVDs compatible with your home player.
