Sharp demos the first 8K4K display

Seems like Sharp had a few tricks up the sleeves, and one of them was the new giant screen, a 8K4K LCD with a 85-inch display.

The new mega resolution of 7680 x 4320 is still not in use obviously (not even in theaters!), but test broadcasting is scheduled to the begin in early of 2020. This “little” friend is made with around 33 million pixels and from what we can see, it packs a huge quality!

    Resolution in the text should be 7680 x 4320 (not 7680 x 45320! ;) )

my eyes barely notice the difference between 720p and 1080p. so why the hell bother with  8K4K? is not like im gonna get some cyborg eyes anytime soon.

What is the frame rate of this display? Until the sources get to 60+ frames-per-second, they still aren’t going to look completely lifelike. I would rather have a 2K display at 60 FPS (not the refresh rate or emulated “240Hz” rates of other TVs) with some nice 60 FPS sources.

Movie studios have to realize that 24 FPS (film) is still far too juddery to reproduce lifelike scenes. We have the technology.

30, google NHK for what the camera can record.

But as mentioned in the article it is a question of use. TV, movies and most games are less than 30. And it isn’t likely that video game systems will push 60-120 frames per second for this type of screen. Consider 120 frames for 3D.. per eye? that would be stupid crazy (imagine playing burnout on that).
