Haier taking cloud computing to new levels with brain-controlled TV
The days of losing the TV remote seem to be drawing to a close and a new form of control is coming in the not too distant future . This week at IFA, Haier unveiled the world’s first Brain-Computer Interface Technology (BCI) Smart TV, which utilizes NeuroSky ThinkGear technology. In simpler terms, the Haier Cloud Smart TV lets you interact with the TV using your brain.
The Smart TV can interact with viewers via NeuroSky’s MindReader headset, which detects human brainwave patterns revealing a person’s mental state and then translates the monitored brainwaves into digital signals that the television can recognize. Users can also develop control over their TV with included entertainment applications.
Giving us a one-up over the machines, this is definitely taking cloud computing to a new level.
Haier’s Smart TV is scheduled to be released in October in China at an undetermined price. There was no mention of a US launch.
