Tokyo Cable Network and NEC bring Android Tablet to the Masses!

Tokyo Cable Network and NEC bring Android Tablet to the Masses!

There is not a day without an Android related news and here is the turn of NEC that announced this morning a partnership with TCN or Tokyo Cable Network to bring NEC’s LifeTouch Android Tablet to the masses with a series of dedicated services.

While today’s announcement does not bring anything new to NEC’s Lifetouch table (Same specs but now running on Android 2.2), this new solution however hope to bring a deeper synergy between TV and Users by offering from NEC’s tablet full control over your TCN experience with not only a dedicated series of remote made to control your TV with dedicated profile for each family members, but also several services including Web Shopping, News Information, Weather Data, Mail, Local alerts and offer as well as Medical information.
This service also includes many little nifty mail services like for example the possibility to send “voice” message by email, making it easier for elderly to connect to family members by email rather than having to type an email.

Dedicated primarily for Elderly, NEC hopes that this service will catch up to every kind of people as well in the future.
It is also interesting to note, that a recent study from NEC during a test trial with the company Robot Papero demonstrate that elderly become more active and closer to their community as soon as they had access to basic local information and other activities.
Strong from this data, NEC and Tokyo Cable Network also help that providing Local data and information via this service will also be benefic to elderly in Japan and improve their daily life as well as their integration in our society.

Finally, NEC also hope that it will be able to bring such service all around Japan in the near future and for those who may want more from this bundle, rest assure, you will still have access to the “Android” layer of this LifeTouch and to the Android Market as well.
