Why is the ability to add a ring tone one of the more important features to users? A basic feature? For “pits” sake!

This is Mango Wp7.5 that fixes many of your shortcomings. You have to register your various accounts’ credentials on your phone 1 time only.
Anyway hope Akihabaranews will make a review…COMPLETE WITH UNDERWATER TESTING!!!

With Windows Phone 7.5, like with this Fujitsu, you can add your own ringtones.

Sure, you can use Android without a Google account. However by adding one you get more use out of the Google apps and integration. Just like you can use Windows Phone and run apps without a Windows Live ID. Or a Google account, or a Facebook account, or a Twitter account, or a LinkedIn account. But add those accounts and you’ll see your phone come to life and actually act really smart like nothing else.

Obviously the desktop Zune software on Windows is useless if you prefer to manage and manually copy randomly stored media files to your tethered Android phone. But smart people that leverage the power of Windows media libraries and Zune will probably also enjoy that it can let Windows Phone sync media files wirelessly when they come home.

I too have been using a win7 phone for couple a months now and I LOVE it. Most of the been features your talking about has already been added to this version 7.5. If your phone does not alert you to received messages and incoming calls then you need to go check ur setting ’cos mine does, how would it be a phone if it doesnt?

Btw which phone nowadays does not require activation and an email address, how else would you buy apps or even download free apps, how would you sync your email and contacts. Android, iOS, Symbian all require activation and user ID.

I’d encourage you to wait and try 7.5 before jumping to Android if you don’t like it.

I was sooo disappointed with my win7 phone. Seems a great OS but … lacked so many very very basic features!!!! Can’t even add a new ringtone, for pits sake. Has to “activate” and “register” and “use live id” and whatnot. Heck with it. It doesn’t beep-remind of received messages/missed calls (I have to manually check). Zune software is useless (can’t add a single picture w/o first configuring a whole directory to be part of the “library” etc). Then, can’t even type a SMS in the computer and put it in the phone to be sent, etc, etc

Switching to Android.
