ZMP announced a new Kinect controlled Robot Car for research purpose
ZMP is the company responsible for the amazing e-Nuvo and RoBoCar for example, and earlier this month, the company sends us a press release announcing yet a new scale 1/10 of the RoBoCar vehicle, the RoBoCar Lite, that uses Microsoft Kinect Controller as primary source.
The RoBoCar Lite is powered by an AMD Geode LX800 CPU @ 500Mhz, with WiFi BGN and using Microsft Kinect SDK and a mounted Kinect Camera on top of the car allowing the RoBoCar Lite to drive around by itself as well as being capable to detect and avoid objects in a 3D environment.
Only available for academic purpose and sold at around 598,000 Yen to universities, the RoBoCar Lite will soon jump from Linux to Windows 7 and upgrade its CPU to take full control over Kinect and offer a better integrated solution.
