Sony introduces HD Series S-Frame, play Full HD movies in your picture frame

Sony recently introduced a trio of new digital photo frames, the HD Series S-Frame. Digital frames may have been that boring gift you bought for your mother on Mother’s Day, which doesn’t even get used, but this new fame is special. It not only lets consumers display their favorite photos, but also comes packed with 1920×1080 HD video playback.
The new models, the 10-inch WSVGA LCD DPF-HD1000, eight-inch WVGA LCD DPF-HD800, and seven-inch WVGA LCD DPF-HD700, offer AVCHD and MP4 video playback in vivid colors on their high-res LED backlight screens and an image processor that scales and displays content up to 192 megapixels.
Sony says the frame is capable of handling footage taken from HD camcorders, plus you can always load up your own digital copies of movies as long as they’re in the correct format.
Some other features include 2GB of internal storage for pictures, video and music, display and effects modes to easily create original photo slideshows, and support for USB thumb drives, SD, SDHC, SDXC Memory Card and Memory Stick PRO Duo.
Display all your photos and possibly catch up on those old Harry Potter movies with these tablet-sized screens, when they’re available in September from the Sony Style Store starting at $120.
A variety of display and effects modes makes creating fun and original photo slideshows a breeze. Slideshow options include Clock, Calendar, Time Machine and Random.
With 2GB of internal memory, each of these three frames can store thousands of images. Maximizing internal space, the models offer auto-resizing that downsizes photos so you can store them within the device and return your memory card back to your camera. Additionally, the internal memory can store up to 40 songs allowing you to enjoy background music while viewing photos or watching slideshows. Supported audio formats are mp3, AAC, and Linear PCM.
Digital images can be loaded onto the frames’ internal memory from a USB thumb drive or several types of media cards, including SD, SDHC, SDXC Memory Card and Memory Stick PRO Duo™. All models support JPEG and Alpha’s RAW (thumbnail preview) image file formats.
