PCS stands for Pre-Crash System and Toyota, like many other companies includes in its PCS something called Lane Departure Prevention that will not only alert you if you are changing lane without noticing it but also, depending on the manufacturer, slow down your vehicle to fully stop it if nothing has been done to prevent an accident.
While this Lane Departure Prevention system help to save lives of many people who fall asleep while driving, Toyota thought that this overall concept could be improved and managed to let your car take full control of what’s going on rather then yourself in case of an emergency.
Not only here this new Lane Departure Prevention alert you if you are changing lane without noticing it, but the car will also immediately take control over its direction and avoid any obstacle for you until the car is fully stop for your safety.
Designed for people who fall asleep or faint while driving, I have to admit that the result is really impressive, as you will see below in our video, at 80km/h the car will automatically avoid an obstacle and stop itself if nothing is done from your part.
Really impressive this system will soon be available on some of Toyota’s cars including some Lexus in the near future in hope to save even more life!
Along side this very impressive PCS Lane Departure Prevention system, Toyota also arranged another very interesting “test” where we could appreciate Toyota’s effort in helping the driver to control its vehicle even in the worst situation like driving on an ICY or Snowy surface.
The Idea here was to show the performance of Toyota’s VDIM (Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management) and VSC technology (Vehicle Stability Control) by driving a car with the system turned ON and then OFF while performing an emergency stop at 50km/h on this slippery surface and then trying to “shake” the car as much as possible until you loose control of it… As you will see on the video below the result speak for itself!
Big Thumbs-up to Beno-San (Image-Japan) who helped to cover this event!
