Sony announced yesterday its plan to phase-out its latest 1GB Hi-MD products including the 1GB HMD1GA disk with an end schedule for September 2012, and Sony’s only Hi-MD player the MZ-RH1 with an end schedule for September 2011 in Japan.
Despite all you can say about Sony, MD and Hi-MD have been a HUGE success and was a great technology it is really pity however that Sony never did anything to improve this technology and better adapt it to nowadays audio format, and never succeed to make the Hi-MD a successful way to store DATA.
