Sony and Daiwa House Brings Power Saving Game Concept to your House

Today Sony CSL (Sony Computer Science Laboratory) and Daiwa House demonstrate at Daiwa House D-TEC Plaza a new entertaining concept to help people to better manager their energy consumption as well as their Home appliance.

Thanks to a clever suit of application allowing you to interact with connected appliance and other DLNA compatible devices, you will now, not only be able to control each and every one devices connected to this system but also do it in a very Japanese Anime Style thanks to several Cute little Character and some tiny in-app games challenging you to save power.

Once all your devices connected to this system, you will of course be able to control each and any of them from your Android Device, but also play some interactive games that every little character will have for you. The concept of this game is here very simple, and will help you to better understand your power consumption and how to reduce it as much as possible. Once you are interring home, your phone will immediately be connected to your home and a cute little Character will welcome you and propose you to enjoy your evening by watching some stuff on TV or whatever it was programed to do. Then, once in your living room you will see on your smartphone screen each device connected to the system and its Character representation, this could be your Mp3, Player, BD Player, TV, Fridge, AC, Fan… And depending of the game you will play you will have to challenge your power need to be as “Green” as possible.
Sony CSL and Daiwa House had for us some example of these games where the FAN and AC were both arguing on which one was the best tool for you and than later finally fall in loved to give you the choice from one character to control both the AC and FAN at the same time.

Sure this “Anime” approach to control your Home and help you to better understand your power needs and control them is somehow childish and may only appeal to a limited group of people in Japan, the overall concept behind this system is pretty clever, and once adapt to different market and culture could really give you the possibility to have a “real” interaction with your house. Even better, it could be also a very nice way for your kids to understand to the needs to switch off lights or other appliances when they do not use them, where a partnership with Disney in North America or Europe could help kids with their Android Smartphone or PMP/DAP to have fun while learning on how to save energy!
